christmas in northvilleA historic city with a charming vibe, Northville, MI, is located in the Detroit metropolitan area. It has been occupied and visited by people for almost 200 years.

The town was officially formed in the 20th century when Henry Ford acquired a facility and moved machinery from other places to the Northville Valve Plant. As a result, we rapidly became known as a small-town option for those wishing to settle outside of a big city and raise their families in a quieter satellite town.

Family is a key concept in Northville. We're here because we cherish experiences with our families and value spending time with them. The pace of the holidays may be frantic. The rushing to and from Christmas festivities and gift-buying might make it easy to forget why we celebrate.

The teachers and staff at St. Paul Lutheran School want to assist you in helping your children concentrate on Christ during this Advent season.

Celebrating Christmas in Northville, MI

Whether you are staying local or traveling far and wide, there are a few things you can do to help ensure your family is centered on Christ during Christmas.

1) When the Season Starts, Make It about Jesus

Advent is an important term for us during this season. Advent is a time of waiting and preparation for the arrival of Christ. It means appearing and refers to the appearance of Emmanuel - God with us. Jesus is the fulfillment of the promise of God to save the world. Decide with your family to focus on this truth and the gospel during the advent season.

It’s natural for you and your kids to think about giving and receiving gifts and presents. This year, make sure the focus is on the gift of Christ and salvation.

2) Study Advent Scripture

Study Passages About Jesus’ Appearance:

  • Genesis 3: The Fall of Man and the Promise of Jesus.
  • Isaiah 7, 9: The reiteration of Jesus’ incarnation and the assurance that the Messiah would be Emmanuel - God with us.
  • Matthew 1: The story of Mary and Joseph and the reason Jesus was given his name. Jesus literally means he was sent to save his people from their sins.
  • Luke 2: The birth narrative of Jesus, the shepherds, the Wise Men, etc. Also, Luke 2 includes the story of Simeon and Anna.
  • John 1: The description of Jesus’ incarnation and divinity.

3) Sing Advent Songs

We all look forward to singing throughout the Christmas season. Have your family sing these wonderful songs about Jesus' birth and incarnation this year:

  • Joy to the World
  • Hark the Herald Angels Sing
  • Silent Night
  • O Holy Night
  • Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
  • Oh, Come All Ye Faithful
  • O Come O Come Emmanuel
  • Come Let Us Adore Him
  • Infant Lowly, Infant Holy
  • O Little Town of Bethlehem
  • Away in a Manger
  • It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
  • What Child is This?
  • Go Tell It on the Mountain
  • Angels We Have Heard on High
  • I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Every day of the year, at St. Paul Lutheran School, we assist students in keeping Christ in their hearts. They are often informed of Jesus' good news. If you want to learn more about how your child will succeed at St. Paul, contact us today!
